Jessica has a background in secondary science education and taught science and Science & Technology Lab in the middle school for eleven years. She has been afforded a number of opportunities to extend her classroom experiences through I-LLINI Partnerships, Lego Robotics, STEM workshops through Construction Engineering Research Laboratory (CERL) and Research Experiences for Teachers. Teacher leadership paved the path to administration and she is currently the assistant principal of Kenwood Elementary and part of a team with the goal of transforming educational experiences for the entire school community.​
